Watch the actual flow of air traffic around the

globe as day runs into night and then back into

day. Then see the well known increases in air

traffic congestion as the sun comes up in

Western Europe and North America turning their

airspaces into real beehives of activity.

There are also the other prominent flows: air

traffic across the North Atlantic, westbound

during daylight, eastbound at night. Watch how

each direction fires off like a water cannon as

the sun comes up in Europe, or goes down in

North America. The expected flow across the

North Pacific and other well known flows from

our West Coast out to the Hawaiin Islands.

The one I wasn't expecting is the volume of

traffic flowing from Europe across the

mid-Atlantic southwest to Brazil.

However, what I enjoyed most was looking at how

lonely it must be flying the south Pacific

between Argentina/Chile at the southern most tip

of South America over to Australia - - just a

couple of aircraft (or just two aircraft between

Australia to South Africa!). Lonely days and

lonely nights out over all that water while we

sleep . . . everybody's got to be somewhere I

guess. Many of us can certainly relate to what

we see here. Enjoy

On 9/11 we took off after the second airplane hit. We landed at our destination as they were getting everyone out of the air. At the airport the news said it would be a few hours at most. I said yea right, get me a rental car right now.

We drove home, the following morning I was suppose to airline out to Wichita for recurrent sim training. Instead I drove out. Flew the sim all week while no airplanes flying in/out of the airport and none overhead. Wierd Wierd week. It was like "The day the music died"

Drove back from Wichita and picked up the airplane. By then limited travel was authorized. Flew home.

Crazy Crazy week!
