Update:
I've got about 100 miles on the car now. No real issues to speak of... I need to balance the front wheels, need to switch to a thinner or synthetic lube for the gearbox (get occasional crunches which I didn't get before putting in fresh 80/90 weight), replace factory oil sending unit.... nothing major. Really enjoying it. And...she's faster than stink.. whole lotta fun..!! She'll step out sideways with only modest "go pedal" application, and w/o even playing the clutch. Too cool.
Hey, on the oil topic... I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked up, and running 2k rpms down the road I have 30-40 psi, spikes up as anticipated on higher RPM, however...when at idle (hot) the pressure drops to ~10 psi. Not too crazy about this. The engine is clearly fresh and quite stout, so can't believe it's "just an old engine". Has anyone else experienced and solved such a situation. I'm considering dropping the pan and putting in a fresh HV/HP pump.
