As I recall, the earliest shipments of cars to the US (port of entry was Long Beach, California) had a lot of paint and body damage due to improper handling by the Long Beach dock workers. That would have included the 1971 models which began arriving in April, plus possibly the earliest 1972 models. Repairs to the cars were the responsibility of Bill Stroppe's shop in Signal Hill.
I can't remember a problem with the paint applied at the Vignale Coachworks in Turin. But my memory isn't what it used to be.
