Reply to "351C Distributor (aftermarket) - Short shaft - Gear attached to oil pump drive?"

The drive gear is attached to the oil pump driveshaft. The stub of the distributor engages into the gear. See the pic.

The folks on 351c FB said it is a cheap pro comp distributor. They use a stub shaft to accommodate more engines.
