If you don't want to do that you'll have to pull your pan and weld on a a boss or extension. There's not a lot of room between the pan and ther fram rail on a P'Car. Of course you'll also need to choose the location to ensure you miss the rotating assembly. Either way you're probably making a custom dip stick and tube so pick your poison. Pulling the balancer isn't a big deal. Given the choice I'd pull the cover so the dip stick isn't on the pan. If you ever pull you pan (removable cross member?) you'll be cussing the dip stick on it.
