4-V heads had gigantic valves and ports while the "little" 2-V heads only(?) had valves bigger than the largest ever supplied on 350 Chevys. 4-V valves & ports directly compare to those on the Ford 429/460 engines, prompting some to describe Clevelands as 'small-displacement big-blocks'. In the lower corner of each head is a cast "4" or a "2" designating the head type. 'Course if its off the engine, try shoving your hand inside the intake port- most hands can go in far enough to touch the 4-V's intake valve!
