Some additional info re USA importing. A few PI Newsletters back there was an article & photos of a yank who fly in here ( South Africa ) to buy a nice black (?) GT5 from a fellow on the East Coast (Port Elizabeth in fact). All went very well and the buyer had a great time here going on a couple of quick Big Game Safaries etc while the car was being prepped for him....I ll try and find out details to post on how it all went down.....
I know there are a lot of cars being shipped out of South africa to all around the world especially since there is virtually no rust problems here to speak of. Jag freaks from UK come here and just buy body-shells. Someone in Moscow just bought a pal of mines Jag XKE Roadster for big money. Also the nice little Noble which are built here in SA are shipped out all the time. Cobra Daytona Coupe replica's sold as Superformance Coupe's from the same company....and a sheeet-load of very nice GT40's (..one of which i owned for 6 years )which have mostly gone to the states. In fact 3x of them were, or still are on the PI Cars for Sale Section....the one went for, or they were asking $129 000. The other $119 000. I think they were shipped out to the US with out motors and then put up for sale there as 2nd.hand ?? I'll make some inquiries.
