A/C Hose routing

I have a 71' and in the process of replacing the entire A/C System. Condenser is still going to be in the rear. Hoses to the evaporator were originally routed in the passenger rocker panel. Im trying to go thru the console now. Question is, do they go thru the existing hole on the firewall (located behind the passenger seat)?
Then if so, the only other place for them to exit is near the shift rod..which would probably rub. Is some cutting on the lower bulkhead necessary for them to exit and go thru to the console?
