A comment on Bulletin Board Etiquette

Recently a thread was opened up pertaining to a new publication. A disparaging remark was made about the author. As a result, I took down the thread. I have only done this a couple of times in the past 10 years. I have seen the prototype of the book in question and I believe it represents the most comprehensive collection of photographs of DeTomaso race cars ever assembled in one place. Since PI has a large archive here already, our collection looks small in comparison. Some people have been critical of the author before, but I recommend nobody judge the book or the work that went into it until it is read. There are hundreds of authors out there who write about Ferraris, Maserati and Lambos, but almost nobody writes about Panteras, especially the race cars, which is an area that is clouded with mystery and ignorance. This new book will shed important light on the DeTomaso race cars and if somebody can write a better book on the topic, we are here to help and to get the book in the hands of enthusiasts.
As a general comment, the moderators who monitor these Forums are going to prune any postings that are defamatory, even in the slightest. We believe in free speech, however, some people cannot defend themselves in this type of Forum from accusations that are posted, especially by unknown persons. I hope you will understand and not think my actions are abusive or cause a chilling effect. Respectfully, Dave Adler, Director
