The method of the sencing bulb is to transfer temp to the bulb and back to the capliary tube and to the TXV. The bulb .. I would not solder to the pipe. You can use some metalic heat transfer compound and then wrap it with black sticky thermal tape. Both cost maybe $10 at any HVAC supply. Its very important to tranfer the temp.

To answer your question I'm not 100% sure about the clip on the Pantera as I have not taken mine apart yet but I'm in the process of starting. But the two pieces should be touching.
