sorry not 100% sure what it looks like. If at the end of the Cap tube there is a bulb .. thats what needs to touch .. the cap tube usually is just like and extension cord so the TXV can be used in multiple apllications. If there is no Bulb then the cap tube is it .. put a little heat trans compound on the pipe wrap it around and wrap it heavy with the black tape. Just a precaution .. are you brazing the TXV or soldering it in place. make sure you use a wet rag or there are other heat shielding methods to prevent damage to the new TXV. My advise is brazing it with 15% silver ... but make sure to use a fine torch tip.
