My hoses under my dash are original and I only replaced the ones in the engine compartment back in the late 80's. I converted my york compressor to R134 however I need to recharge each summer because I think the compressor leaks. I am no expert but If the hoses feel okay then I would give the conversion kit a try. I have used the conversion kit on my other cars and it works well.
