Very fortunate that nobody was hurt.

In Canada, the tractor would be covered by my home insurance. My trailer is insured but whatever is on it must always carry it's own coverage. But your experience raises a valuable lesson as I'm sure many of us have trailered home a new vehicle purchase and some may not have arranged coverage in advance of moving it.
