Air Conditioning

The A/C hoses under the dash on my '72 Pantera was not hooked up to the evaporator when I bought it. Upon investigation, I find that one hose attaches just fine. The other hose has a female connector that matches the female connector on the evaporator. Am I missing a connector or is it possible that someone had changed the evaporator or hose sometime in the past 29 years? Please advise. Ron
