Reply to "Aldan settings"

Matt,

I'll try and add something, but I'm no expert. From your latest descriptor of 'bouncy' it now sounds like the car is too stiff, correct? The Hall/Aldan shocks carry some pretty serious spring rates as I said in the previous post. They will stiffen the car up, in fact I had to lower my seat after fitting them just to stop bumping my head all the time (I'm 6'). I actively avoid potholes to avoid sending shudders through the whole car, which makes for some interesting driving on our local NV roads!

The Hall springs I have (and assume you have the same) are 4.5" dia. as per the original shocks and unfortunately Hall only supplied the one set of spring ratings. You could contact Aldan and retrofit back to 2.5 dia" springs which would give you more option to purchase different(lighter) spring ratings. 300-350# front and 500-550# rear seems to be where most people settle, dependent on use.

The alternative is to sell your current set up and start from scratch. I'm considering this myself, (but more to gain clearance from the 2.5" dia springs to also go to a larger exhaust dia.).

If and when I change I will go to QA1 (previously Hal/Carrera) that are available in single and double adjustable forms from a couple of the Pantera vendors or direct from Summit Racing. One plus is that springs are about $40, easily available and I could afford to experiment plus have a couple different spring rating sets for road or track.
