Reply to "alternator fail"

There's only one seal in a water pump- around the shaft. So if water was (and still is) coming out the shaft hole in the pump nose, you'll need a new pump. If it was coming out the gasket surrounding the pump somewhere, you might be able to simply pull the pump and add a new gasket. Overheating generates steam, expands castings and softens gaskets. All can contribute to a water leak. Some leaks are self-healing when things cool down, but don't trust this- get in there & replace as necessary. Good luck.
