ALTERNATOR LIGHT IN DASH

After rebuilding my alternator the little yellow light in the speedometer does not work, the alternator tech says it should. I checked the tiny bulb and it lights up with power. Any ideas?
I guess there must be an interruption in the wire somewhere.
