I was just realizing how heavy my trunk feels. It would be nice to lighten the thing like with carbon fiber maybe?

Is the resin that is used for the carbon fiber the same as fiberglass resin? It seems to me that the entire carbon fiber units are much lighter and it can't be just the reinforcing material alone?
