I put a couple washers at the top of and between the pedal box casting and the firewall. It tilted the assembly enough that I got the hood clearance I needed. I also bent the wire reservoir cover clamp for a little extra. I know several others who have done the same. Your results may vary. Use a clay ball and see how much you need to gain.
