Reply to "Another EBAY????"

These scams are epidemic on E-Bay. One thing I can say, E-Bay is better at removing them than they used to be. This one and the last couple mentioned on this board were removed within a few hours. In the past the same bogus auctions would appear for days.
I've been tempted to respond to some of these thieves, but I'm not particularly computer savy and do not know if I am risking information theft by contacting them. I'd be careful about responding to any offer that looks phony to you.
You'd think that with all the hundreds of millions of dollars E-Bay has, they would want to find and prosecute some of these bums. I've seen "other auctions" that indicate a couple of hundred fake items listed under one fake account. And the one I'm thinking of comes back again and again with a new fake name every time. A clown with this persistence should be traceable and bustable.
I'll bet they figure ignoring the problem is less damaging than the press they would get by prosecuting a bunch of these scammers. It would reveal the lie that any of these transactions is safe. A good reporter with inside information could really turn the screws on E-Bay for their "security" and the "protection" they offer.
They're big on telling you not to correspond on closed items with non-bidders (this costs them their commission if a sale is negotiated). Other than that, they couldn't care less about you or any loss generated on their site.
