johnk, both of the seats in my late '71 have the adjustment levers next to the console; both are tight against the door sills. Both are difficult to move forward/backward even after cleaning the debris and cold grease off the tracks. I have no idea if mine are in their original positions...but I'm guessing your's may be reversed.
