I'm not near my car to check, but if I recall correctly both my adjustment levers (or non-adjustment levers, whichever way you like to look at it ) swivel toward the outside of the car.
When I removed my seats I recall that each seat was slightly different i.e. handed. This may not have been the case originally, but over 30 years of drivers & passengers getting in and out the car and with all the pressure on the outer bolster it is reasonable to assume that the outer side of the seat cushion will become distorted and flattened out, thus, giving a slightly wider seat stance on the outer side.
If you've reinstalled them opposite that may be the difference you see. I'd just swap 'em around and see what difference it makes, after all its only 8 bolts.
