Update: I was yesterday at the TÜV, they were very nice and very helpfull, I got the German registration including the historic "H-Zulassung".
The tailpipes were absolutely no problem! Major first step -> very happy!
I hope the Austrian registration officials will use the German papers and let me register the car!
