Ahhh....Bodan,

You were wanting to retain stock parts such as intake & exhausts, & now you are contemplating a mod motor. You don't mind if I bang my head a bit do you? He, he, he ...

I believe the mod motor is the future for Pantera swaps. The motor's response will be different than that of a 351 to 427 push rod V8, but different is not necessarily better or worse, its just different. The price of these motors has come down, which makes this swap more attractive now. There is also a 4 barrel carburetor intake for the motor, which simplifies the swap for those who don't want to fuss with fuel injection. A 5 liter mod motor making around 500 bhp, would be very sweet.

Keep in mind, it is inevitable, how close your car is to "stock" will someday make a tremendous difference in its value. This may be important to you or not.

The mod motor is "tall", you'll have an induction system in your rear view mirror. But you can have a flat firewall because the overall length is shorter.

On the subject of Cleveland blocks, if you can patiently wait until later in the year, there should be some good news regarding the availability of a new heavy duty Cleveland block hitting the market.

So sleep on it, make your decision, and go for it. There is no wrong decision, just different.
