Reply to "Backfire"

Most loud backfires are from the exhaust and not the carb. A carb backfire is a low pop and if real luck, followed by a little flame in the carb bowl. A real loud pop or bang, like a gun shot, is coming from the exhaust. This is caused by a few different reasons, most common are unburnt fuel hitting the hot exhaust and exploding in the headers or an exhaust valve hanging open at the wrong time.

IMHO not something to worry about, hyped up motors will be a little sensitive until things warm up. But if it happens all of the time, you might need some tuning. I am sure others can offer more hints to reduce the frequency.
