Peter, you'll have far less trouble using Mike's type 2 bellhousing due to the clutch release mechanism being incorporated into the DeTomaso part. Using a hot-rod bellhousing, you'll have to devise a whole new clutch release system. It can and has been done but will only add to delays in you enjoying your drive, plus the expense for welding, machining etc.
