Here's a universal tip for anybody driving a classic car in anything but hot weather. Coat the inside of the windows with a very thin layer of dishwash/sulfo. The windows won't steam up for 6 months. Some biker use it on the inside of their helmet visir

Have not experienced that floating air valve. Actually today was quite good, wipers worked, washer worked, heated rear screen worked. In fact everything works:
