Keep your PayPal balance at $0 & have your cc as alternate funding. That way you can pay with your cc. If there is a problem, you can work with your cc company. I have cash back on my cc. It's like getting a discount on the item that I purchase.

Starting 11/01/08, PayPal's buyer protection is supposed to be for 100% of your winning bid. I recently filed a claim for non receipt of an eBay item & got a 100% refund. The Seller didn't have any funds in his PayPal account.
