Yes. There have been examples of outer bearing failure and spindle failure on Pantera front uprights on race cars. But failure is only one aspect to consider in race conditions. The other is flexing of the hub assembly relative to the spindle. For race cars you need go minimize this to improve handling and steering. To solve this problem (improve handling, steering responsiveness and eliminating bearing failure) you can fit a spindle stiffener, larger bearing hubs and a bearing spacer to set the pre-load.
