Block ID

I know the block in my 1974 pantera is not original.It has 4 bolt mains and forged pistons after a compleat rebuilt. Are there any codes, casting numbers or stampings that could ID the year of the block? Is there a big difference between let's say a 1970 block vrs a 1974? I know the horse power is a lot higher on the 70 engine.Oh by the way I installed Boss closed chanbered heads on this block and the performance is great. Thanks for your'e time....
