First, a radiused throwout bearing is intended for a flat-finger diaphragm clutch such as are used by Chevrolet. The Centerfors is an angled-finger diaphragm, so a std bearing works just fine with Centerforce clutches. The P.I unit is talking about the throwout bearing carrier for the actual bearing, and your stock bearing carrier is indeed cast iron. If in your opinion, you only need a throwout bearing, then a stock replacement bearing should be fine on your stock iron carrier.
