I have very weak original struts,

Locally I have had no luck in finding a firm to recondition them.

I was then informed that they were not gas struts
but had springs inside that had weakened.

So I thought I would do the job myself, and stripped one down to shim the weak spring.

To maybe help others like myself who "don't know"

There is no spring, just oil for damping and gas for lifting.

can they be repaired, I would like to keep it Original if possible.

How these were gassed up is a mystery for there is no access to a valve, see the 2 pics.
