Brake vacuum check valve

After a total restoration of my brakes and booster I did not notice any check valve in the brake vacuum line. This would account for a dramatic loss of brakes when the car stalls and braking is required. The parts manual does not show one. Is there an in line valve or should the banjo fitting that connects the vacuum line to the booster be one way? Thanks Mike
