Bum Steer

HI all Thanks for all the great info on the siteand in the many links. Have just had my rack out and replaced the bush.Got all keen whilst at it and made a 1/4" plate to do the bump steer thing. All went pretty much as explained in the handouts. made up new bolts, redrilled and and moved the mounting bracket tighten all up replaced tie rod ends and felt preety smug.Until I tried the steering wheel and only had 3/4 turn lock to lock. With a little force it went on its merry way. Had high spots. So being the dedicated DIY er I imediately blammed the guy who replaced the bush.He sugested putting in a shim in So lossen and did that
Having removed the colum from the pinion. Seemed good. SO replaced everthing tighten as above. Bugger! Same as before. Only thing leftwas to try race again without the colum attached ,was good. so whats different , the only thing was the bump steer pack. removed and replaced colum verything going good again.
So in a very long winded way why or how do i get everthing to line up nice and smooth with the bump kit in place.
Cheers from down under.
