Modifying the drive shaft is easy. I have done it on two of my mustangs when converting from an auto C4 to Tremec TKO 600. What I find strange is that they put a weak C3 trans in such a powerful and heavy car. The C4 can be made almost bullet proof. Typically ford used the C6 for all large / powerful cars. The mustang big blocks had the C6 for example.
