Reply to "Cam Thrust Button vs. Stock Retainer..."

Cam thrust buttons are Chevy only and are not made for Fords. Not needed on Fords either, which use a 2-bolt thrust plate to hold the cam in its proper position. Be aware there are TWO different kinds of factory thrust plates. Ford says to use a cast-iron thrust plate for cast iron cams and cast cam sprockets, and a steel plate for steel cams and steel cam sprockets, or serious wear will occur due to dissimilar metals in rubbing-contact. This gets really serious with aluminum blocks! A thrust plate for a 351-W will NOT fit a 351-C, nor will those used in 289, 302 or 5.0-L Fords. The aftermarket sells cam sprockets with a roller bearing thrust washer that can be used with any cam or sprocket (once relieved to fit), and Danny Bee Racing & others sells a cast-bronze thrust plate for competition Fords.
