I tried a few more combinations.
Put in another valve (6.5), then a 5.0 power valve.
No change (still rich).

I've checked the straightness of the body
and metering block. They appear to be 'true'.

Now I may try a different set of gaskets, as I can't think of anything else to try.

Keep thinking ...
