I didn't remove the console. Removing the bulkhead cover helps plus you can Dynamat the bulkhead. I used 3M spray adhesive. It adheres well but you can still pull up the carpet if necessary. If putting down Dynamat remember to cut out a little around the bolt holes for the seat sliders.
