FWIW, 6 years is the avg age of a working lead-acid battery. You got your useage out of the thing; I'd certainly try a new battery. For weight savings, I use a battery for a MR-2 at 360 cca. Works fine on a 10-1/2:1 c.r Cleveland if the engine ground straps are in good shape and you have a gear-drive starter.
