...When you replaced the alternator, did you keep the original EXTERNAL Voltage Regulator? I suspect THAT is the 'Click' you hear when you hook up the Battery. It is providing voltage to the alternator field because the battery is 'Low' enough to turn it on. BUT, this should not happen until the Ignition Key is, itself, turned On. I think 1. You have a faulty Voltage Regulator. 2. a faulty Alternator. (just because it's New Does Not mean it's in working condition) 3. Faulty Ignition switch, shorted inside so as NOT to turn off the voltage to the regulator, when the Key is off. 4. Faulty Grounding Strap at Battery or Transaxle. 5. Have you tried Disconnecting the Battery as it sits overnight; After fully charging it? That 'Click' means something is always ON and is draining the Battery, even though the 'KEY' is Off...
