...If Your system is putting out 13.9 Volts @ 2500 RPM, the System is Fine! It sounds to Me that the Battery may be bad and will not 'Take' a charge or cannot deliver the amps needed to drive the starter motor. How old is the battery? If it is 3-4 Years on, it may be time for a new one. This would explain the Amp gauge acting Crazy. Very few Batteries can put the 'Work' out for much over 5 Years. Also! If You have changed to and 'Internal' Regulated Alternator; You must 'Jumper' the 'GEN' Light in order to make the system charge. Good-Luck with it!...
