I used 36 grit but 80 would be fine. you just want to knock the shine off & any ridge were the old disc was not wearing, mine had burned pretty bad from slipping, this is alot like new pads on brakes without machining the rotors, as long as you were not chattering before you should be good. mines working great no issues, was out again last night at a cruise.
