Clutch Reduction Kit

I recently installed a long throw clutch slave cylinder and noticed that my clutch master cyl was not retracting all the way back.I disassembled it and found a lot of black goo(deterioration of the o-rings).I cleaned everything out and I'm ready to assemble it( no pitting). My questions are in the Technical Service Bulletin book (article 89 page 9) under "clutch pedal effort reduction kit" it states that the return spring fitted around the push rod should be discarded. Should this be done? I have a 74 with a reduction kit installed at the factory.If this were to be done what keeps the rod in place? Also where can I get those 2 o-rings that are inside. I hope someone outthere can help. Thanks for you're time...
