Coat polished alluminum valve covers?

I've asked and gotten conflicting advice on this one so I thought I'd see what responses I get here...

Should you coat polished alluminum valve covers, intake manafold, etc. or not? If so, coat them with what?

Got a couple that said crome plate them or JetHot them.
