FWIW, it's not a problem. An 8" rim is (was) within the recommended wheel width range for all tires available in 295/50-15 a year and a half ago. FWIW, I just ordered a spare set of Toyo Proxes ST's (295/50-15) for my car as they're becomming scarce.
