Elvis’ Pantera To Be Displayed
At Concorso Italiano
The music legend lives on! The King of Rock and Roll strummed his last chord over 30 years ago, but mere mortality will not stand in our way. The car is presented courtesy of Margie Petersen, of the Petersen Museum who personally owns this rare car.
Elvis’ famed 1971 DeTomaso yellow Pantera will be on display at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch for all to enjoy this special piece of Rock & Roll Americana.
The story has it that one afternoon Elvis was regaling some friends about his frustration with the Pantera the previous day in downtown Memphis. It seems as though simply telling the story reignited Elvis’ aggravation. He pulled out a handgun and shot the car. It started.
Restraint wasn’t one of Elvis’ greatest virtues. He shot the poor Pantera on more than one occasion. Don’t miss out—come see this “hunka hunka burning love” (bullet holes and all) on August 14th at Concorso Italiano.
In addition to Elvis’ Pantera, we are happy to display the one off Tjaarda Pantera Speciale at Concorso this Aug 14th. Owned by Bruce Wanta of Washington State, this 1973 DeTomaso Pantera one off was owned and redesigned by Mr. Tjaarda personally. Repainted in a dazzling orange with carbon fiber design changes penned by Tom Tjaarda, the original Pantera designer. It has a stock 351 Ford big block, mated to a 5–speed ZF transaxle. New seats and materials have transformed a modest interior of the Pantera into a luxurious and pleasing interior. Don’t miss seeing this very special car.

These are just two of the cars that will be part of the Concorso Centerpiece Display. We have a great list of candidates for the Display, but if you have any of the following please let us know.
• Rare DeTomaso cars including: race cars, one-offs,
unique or significant models.
• Bertone Bodied Maserati Khamsin
• Bertone bodied Fiat 850 Coupe & Spider
• Ferrari 308 GT4
