FWIW, that molded two-size rubber hose from the 1-3/8" lower water pipe to the 2" water pump rubbed the shifter shaft; in several thousand miles, Ford found it rubbed through, which= warranty cost. The convoluted steel adapter was the answer; mentioned in a Tech Service Bulletin update. Now available in rustproof stainless like all the other water pipes in all vendor's cooling system replacements. Note also the OEM Italian worm-screw hose clamps regularly disassembled themselves on the road, so it's good insurance to put those things on the shelf for someone building a full-sized model for show and get some stainless U.S- made ones to drive on (also usually part of the vendors kits).
