Cowl grill removal

Can anyone tell me how the grills on the cowl (the ones that the wiper arms sit on) are removed? I heard that some of them have retaining clips and some have screws. I've tried pulling up on it but if it has clips, they aren't budging. If it is screwed down, how do I get to the screws? I have a '73 Pantera L. Thanks in advance guys!
