Reply to "Cowl grill removal"

AS F-GT says, there are tiny pins that lock into plastic grommets in 6 places. Trouble is, 30 yrs of age causes the plastic to get very hard 'n brittle, so they don't flex enough to release the pins. Usually results in the owner tipping the grille to one side during the removal process, which then snaps off the delicate die-cast Zinc pins.... which are not, practically speaking, reweldable. Pull STRAIGHT UP only. If the worst happens & you snap a few pins off, one can drill & countersink holes exactly where the pins used to hang down and use small self-tapping screws into what remains of the plastic grommets. The results are no worse than the look of aftermarket units IMHO..All the vendors sell replacements using screws
