I've had this chipping on both my cars for years. I eventually followed my kids close behind as they drove the cars and was totally amazed how much movement there was - the space between decklid and fender went from nothing to about 1/2 as they turned or went over bumps. However, it wasn't the decklid moving, it was the chassis flexing. Looked like a chicken walking. The same movement causes those cracks where the pillars meet the body - front and rear. As soon as I installed a Hall rigidity kit upper and lower, front and rear this disappeared completely. No more movement. No more chips. No more cracks.
